Description
Bioprinting is a rapidly growing field aimed to transform the healthcare system by providing a fast means of developing tissues and organs for everything from high throughput drug testing to whole organ transplantation. With its roots in both tissue engineering and traditional 3D printing, bioprinting allows researchers to create structures with tissue-scale complexity faster than ever. This talk will cover the state of the field as well as newly developing technologies. Currently the main focus of companies in bioprinting include selling printers, selling biomaterials for printing, or selling completed tissue constructs. I will discuss all three of these areas as well as some case studies of 3D printed structures used in the clinic and pharmaceutical industries.
