Capacitive touch is being used on more and more interfaces, but the challenges of designing and building a touch system that always works the way that it should can be a costly endeavor.  Thresholds used to sense a touch are incredibly sensitive to variance caused by manufacturing imperfections and environmental changes, like temperature, water or wearing gloves,  which can lead to long development times, poor performance and field failures.
