Benny Gold is a graphic designer and fashion designer currently based in San Francisco, California. He is the founder of American skate and streetwear brand and boutique Benny Gold, which sells menswear, sportswear, footwear, skateboards, hats and accessories. Gold attended the Savannah College of Arts and Design (SCAD) in 1994 and graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design before moving to San Francisco later that year in 1998. The idea for the brand started when founder Gold posted a simple sticker with an image of a glider plane, printed with the mantra, “Stay Gold,” around San Francisco one day. Since his brand’s inception, Gold has embraced the old saying, which he adopted with American punk rock band The Ramones in mind, as a reminder that all of life’s experiences should be held dear to. Gold, whose real name is Benjamin Weiner, shortly changed his name after to Benny Gold to be in unity with his brand, as did his wife, Hiromi Gold, and pet French bulldog, Levi Gold.
